Eximbank (EIB VN) - Vietcombank has once again become shareholder of Eximbank
Following recent Eximbank's filings, the largest Vietnamese bank by market cap Vietcombank (VCB VN) has been once again a shareholder of Eximbank, holding nearly 78.9 million EIB VN shares. This amount is equivalent to 4.5% of the smaller bank, second only to 10.0% ownership of GELEX Group (GEX VN).
Vietcombank has not yet revealed the purchase price or how it got those shares but the list of Eximbank's owners in August did not consist of the state-backed banking giant or any of its related parties. Recall: Vietcombank used to possess around 8.2% of Eximbank's economic interest in the past before cutting it down to under 5% in 2018.
EIB VN closed at VND18,450 per share on 16th October 2024, marginally down -4.4% from its 52-week high, thus 15.3x P/E and 1.4x P/B. Meanwhile, VCB VN closed at VND91,500 per share, slightly down -6.1% from its 52-week high, hence 15.3x P/E and 2.8x P/B.
Vinhomes (VHM VN) - Revision of share repurchase timeline
Vinhomes has revised its last day for share repurchase, changing from 22nd November to 21st November in order to comply with the de jure 30-day period. The remaining information is unchanged compared to the previous disclosure. VHM VN closed at VND45,000/share on 16th October 2024, up +30.4% from its 52-week low, thus 8.4x P/E and 1.0x P/B.
Da Nang Port (CDN VN) - Earnings call Q3 2024
The port operator announced its financial results for Q3 2024. In a solid set of numbers. net revenue was VND366 billion (about USD14.9 million, up +14.6% YoY) and net income of VND80 billion (about USD3.2 million, up +17.2% YoY). YTD, net revenue is VND1,071 billion (about USD43.6 million, +18.4% YoY) and net income is VND229 billion (about USD9.3 million, up +11.9% YoY). The company was established in 1901, then listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) in 2016. Vinalines (MVN VN) is still the parent company with three quarters of shares outstanding and the rest is owned by Singapore- based Wan Hai Lines Pte. Ltd. with 20.3%.
CDN VN closed at VND29,000 per share on 16th October 2024, down -14.7% from its 52-week high, hence 9.6x P/E and 1.6x P/B.
