HIGHLIGHTED NEWS
On October 9, the Ministry of Finance projected that average inflation for 2026 would rise by 4.5–4.8%, a slight decrease from the 4.5–5% forecast made in September. Nevertheless, price pressures in the fourth quarter persist due to fluctuations in global energy and raw material prices and exchange rates, alongside rising demand driven by public investment and year-end consumption. The Ministry recommended coordinating fiscal and monetary policies, continuing tax and fee reductions, ensuring the supply of essential goods, and controlling the prices of construction materials and transportation services.
On October 9, the EU removed Vietnam from its list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, acknowledging the country's reforms regarding transparency and the exchange of tax information. Vietnam had previously been placed on the list in February 2026 for failing to meet international standards on tax information exchange. The country has now been moved to the list of cooperative jurisdictions pending reform, while awaiting the completion of a re-assessment by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
TRADING STRATEGY
The stock market continued to undergo a mild correction, closing at 1,735.09 points with liquidity exceeding the 20-session average. Market divergence persisted throughout the session, with selling pressure concentrated primarily in sectors such as Retail, Technology, Insurance, Basic Resources, F&B, and Telecommunications. Conversely, positive cash flow into select small- and mid-cap stocks within the Financial Services, Real Estate, Oil & Gas, and Personal & Household Goods sectors helped mitigate the decline and support the overall index. Foreign trading was balanced, excluding negotiated deals. Cautious sentiment and weak buying demand kept the market fluctuating within a narrow range around the 1,720–1,740 support zone. The VN-Index shows no confirmed signs of a reversal into a new uptrend; the market is likely to experience alternating gains and losses while retesting the strong support zone in upcoming sessions.
Today, the VN-Index is expected to fluctuate between 1,725 and 1,750 points. Short-term investors might consider concentrating their portfolios and prioritizing profit optimization, given the weakening trend of short-term cash flow. Meanwhile, medium- and long-term investors could continue holding stocks with promising business growth prospects for the second half of 2026.
