Recently, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thuy, a representative of the Board of Directors at VPS Securities Joint Stock Company, attended the 2023 Asia-Pacific Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Forum held in Manila, The Philippines. The forum, organized by UN Women in collaboration with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, was the first to be held in the Asia-Pacific region. It aimed to strengthen the implementation of WEPs and promote business actions for gender equality in the area.

Accordingly, the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a global initiative to empower women in the workplace, marketplace, and community. These principles encourage businesses to enhance gender equality and empowerment, enabling women to fully participate in all economic activities at work and in the community. This contributes to a more robust economy and improves the quality of life for women, families, and society. The Women's Empowerment Principles have garnered widespread support from businesses across all sizes and sectors, including stock exchanges and Chambers of Commerce and Industry. According to data from the forum, over 8,000 enterprises globally have committed to supporting the WEPs. Notably, since 2019, the number of businesses committing to the WEPs in the Asia-Pacific region has increased from under 600 to more than 2,200 by 2023.
The WEPs Forum is organized with the noble goals of achieving gender equality and empowering women, including Facilitating learning, connection, and the exchange of gender equality knowledge among the business community in Asia-Pacific; Building the capacity of WEPs signatories, potential signatories, and critical business supporters to enhance the implementation of the WEPs; Advancing actions and recommendations by stakeholders to promote gender equality in business through the deployment of the WEPs in the Asia-Pacific region; Inspiring companies, business leaders, and other stakeholders in the ecosystem to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote an inclusive, equal, and sustainable future for the community.
The 2023 Asia-Pacific Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Forum has created a platform for learning, sharing experiences, and connecting businesses in the region to strengthen further their commitments and actions toward gender equality in the workplace, aiming for sustainable development and contributing to more inclusive economic growth in Asia-Pacific. Key discussion topics at this forum included enhancing business actions for gender equality, trends and opportunities to improve gender equality in Asia-Pacific, the role of small and medium enterprises in promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive economy, and more.
Honored with the "Gender Equality at the Workplace" award in 2022 by UN Women as part of the Women's Empowerment Principles Awards and continuing to participate in the 2023 Asia-Pacific WEPs Forum as the sole financial sector representative, VPS further affirms its role in the journey to inspire, advocate, and collaborate with partners to enhance women's empowerment at work, facilitate women in business to achieve economic autonomy, thereby enabling a stable, happy life and contributing to the sustainable development of the country in economic, social, and environmental aspects.
